Sitting down and finally getting around to writing out this blog post gives me all the feels. This was a trip that will forever be engrained in all of our hearts! Throughout the whole trip, we kept acknowledging how blessed we are to have such a solid community of friends. Not everyone gets to be a part of something so beautiful, and our goal is to take complete advantage of that in this time of our lives!
So how did this trip come about? My dear friend, Gen, is the foreigner of the group. She's from Québec, Canada, and ever since I've known her, she has been dying to have all her friends visit her favorite place...the Camp Lodge. Her family has come to this place every summer, and then some. It's where some of her fondest memories were made. So as Gen would have it, she wanted all her closest companions to experience the same for themselves! We finally set a date, and just went for it! There were months of planning (mostly on Gen's part...we just got to sit back and enjoy!), and it all unfolded about a month ago.
There were seven of us in total who were able to make the trip (we were definitely missing a couple who couldn't be there 😔), and we all made our own ways there. Becca flew up to New Jersey where she met up with Meg and Dain, and the three of them drove to Québec from there. Celia flew directly to Québec where Gen picked her up. And Josie and I decided to make a road trip of it! Yes, we road tripped from Florida and back.
We loosely planned out where we would make our stops along the way, and just kind of went for it! We got to see friends along the way, and long story short, after about 2,000 miles (around 4,000 miles round trip for us) in good ol' Vibey (the loving name of Josie's Pontiac Vibe), we arrived in Québec with the rest of the crew!
Before we left for the mountains, we spent a day in Old Québec, wandering around, eating delicious food (ever tried queue de castor - beaver tail???), and getting rained on. There was so much anticipation as we prepared to leave the next day for five days of no cell service, plenty of nature, and lots of laughs!
Arriving at the Camp Lodge that we all heard so much about almost felt like returning somewhere we had known growing up. The way Gen described it to us was so simple and stunning, and it was just that! We rowed boats, hiked up waterfalls, jumped off rocks into the frigid water, shared amazing meals, played lots of cards, rode the ATV, read books, spent time in silence, and simply rested. It was an unforgettable time spent with some of the most incredible people I know.
Let's do it again soon???
